Moriah and Mia
Well, she made it here at last! Grandpa brought her up with him from Washington in pretty pink and white paper, and today she was unwrapped by a very happy birthday girl!

Skating Awards Banquet
The end of the skating year is here, and with it comes a feast. We all put on our nicest and headed to the heated and dry rink for a large club banquet celebrating the accomplishments of all the skaters in the past year.
All children received a certificate for completing the year's program, and a number of other awards were presented. Moriah wore her new Cinderella dress, compliments of Grandma, and was a show stopper, even if she wasn't the star of the show.
Moriah joined the Juniors on the stage for a celebration of their combined hard work and dedication to this wonderful sport.
The other three also were similarly praised as they crowded onto the stage with the other Canskaters. Salem, however, had a surprise in store.
He and his best friend Ethan had both signed up for Canskate this year, and progressed quickly through the levels, finishing the program in record time. They were both invited to join the Juniors group nest year, of which Ethan declined and Salem accepted on the condition that he could still do a martial art.
Ethan and Salem were called to the stage together to receive a medal to signify Most Improved Canskate Boy of the Year. Ethan received the gold and Salem the silver. It was a proud moment for them.
Here are some pics from the past year:

Grace Thomas and Politics... I mean Macarons
Have you met the new American Girl Doll of the Year 2015? Her name is Grace Thomas and she is lovely.
On top of that, she dreams of opening a bakery, and actually succeeds after a fabulous family summer trip to Paris.
Moral of the story: take your kids to Europe and they will become successful entrepreneurs. Just kidding. The moral is that if you want your kids to vote conservative, you should encourage them to bake.
Okay, okay. Making macarons is not necessarily a sure fire way to raise a Republican.
Actually, though, I do think Grace is a Republican, or at least will become one when she hits 18, as a small business owner facing enormous taxes is likely to either give up the hand-made macarons or join the elephant.
But that's a different blog... [the one about political dolls]. JK. again.
Macarons or no, Grace is a really neat doll. Raven black hair with side bangs and a splash of freckles, set off by striking blue eyes- she is a beauty.
I did feel sorry for American Girl, however, when their much anticipated catalogue featuring their new product showed up in many mailboxes the same day as the Paris shooting.
"Hey, Mom! Look at the new American Girl doll! I want to go to Paris!" Yikes.
Whoa. I've gotta to be careful here. First politics and then terrorism. And to think this post was supposed to be about macarons!
Macarons:
The sweet, rainbow coloured meringue and ganache sandwich cookies that Paris is famous for worldwide. A mouthful of a description.
Apparently these little beauties are quite simple to make and easy to please, in spite of the standards of the occasional macaron connoisseur.

Introducing Mia!
We are all excited to meet the newest member of our family, Mia, in just a few days. She is due to arrive on Saturday, March 28th. She is traveling up from the states with Grandpa and will soon be getting her Canadian citizenship. Welcome Mia St. Clair!
Mia is a figure skater and was American Girl's Doll of the Year 2008, the same year our little figure skater was born. Mia has some great outfits, including her Christmas Performance dress and hockey-after school mix and match combo:
... and jammies:
Her practice outfit for the rink and her Competition dress:
Mia also has a pretty cool bedroom set:
All in all, we think Mia is pretty fabulous and are so excited for her to arrive.
